A metal lunch box can be used again and again and helps to create "zero waste". We only use the highest quality steel - Steel 18/8 - which is completely free of BPA toxins and phthalates.
What does Bento Box mean?
In our search for suitable products for wrapping Scandinavian food, we were inspired by the Japanese way of thinking about packed lunches on the "Bento system". The bento system consists of boxes with small compartments or sets of separate boxes in which to store food without the use of disposable packaging.
We thought this was a brilliant way to re-think packed lunches and be good for the environment at the same time. Our range of boxes is assembled so that they can be used as a system.
Which Bento Box should I choose?
Bento Box comes in several different variants and sizes. They are available in the sizes small, medium and large with respectively one, two or three rooms and are for fixed foodstuffs. Bento Rounds is a set of three environmentally friendly steel boxes with plastic lids, which are intended for leak-free food storage. Bento Rounds can fit into the Bento Large lunch boxes.
Bento Small is suitable for you who are looking for a less environmentally friendly lunch box for a small meal, or who want to use boxes for vegetable sticks, snacks, nuts etc. Small is particularly suitable for smaller children who need several lunch boxes with contents for morning, lunch and afternoon.
Bento Medium is a slightly larger lunch box and comes with 1-2 or 3 rooms. There is room for a little more food here and the height of the food box is greater than on the small. The food box is perfect for both children and adults who want to divide food into small spaces. The height means that you can bring a tall sandwich, salad etc. in these lunch boxes.
Bento Large is an environmentally friendly lunch box for a slightly larger meal or for storing leftovers. Bento Large with one compartment is perfect for a large salad. Bento Large with two compartments is suitable for two sandwiches or for dividing a sandwich and a salad. Bento Large 3 fits the size of a sandwich and two snack compartments for e.g. strawberries and nuts.

Cleaning of metal lunch boxes
Our environmentally friendly lunch boxes are produced in steel type 18/8, which means that it can go in the dishwasher again and again without you experiencing any kind of wear and tear on the metal lunch box. The lunchbox does not have any kind of coating on the inside and does not emit any taste.
However, it is worth pointing out that all steel materials are susceptible to rusting, so it is therefore important that you do not wash the Bento Box with other metal items that give off rusting. If the word fly rust is new to you and you're wondering what it could mean for your Bento Box, it's simply small iron particles that have been dislodged in the dishwasher. It could be that your garlic press or egg beaters are made of iron and that you have put them in the dishwasher and that has resulted in them being partially rusted. The reason why we have chosen to make our environmentally friendly lunch boxes in steel 18/8 is, among other things, that the high quality steel neither receives nor gives off any kind of taste or color to your food. This means that you can safely use Bento boxes for foods that emit color such as curry or beetroot. The Bento Box will still be easy to clean.
