Responsible materials

At YUMMII YUMMII, we would like to inspire how to easily pack food and drinks sustainably. We work with durable and degradable materials, as a replacement for far too many years of overuse of plastic and disposable packaging, which is a major challenge for the environment and unfortunately often ends up in the world's oceans. The plastic age - a frightening reality that we will have to put an end to together by using responsible materials for the future.

Why steel?

The majority of our products are made of stainless steel 18/8. This type of steel has a long life, is extremely durable and is 100% degradable. The steel is chemical-free, free of phthalates and BPA toxins. In addition, steel neither emits nor absorbs color or taste - you can therefore safely use, for example, our Bento boxes for a curry dish without it discolouring the box, as you can easily experience with a plastic bucket. In addition to this, the type of steel we work with is stainless, which is why you can safely throw e.g. your bento boxes in the dishwasher; our products must be easy to fill, easy to use and, not least, easy to clean.

Steel is by nature a cold material that absorbs cold, stores it and takes a long time to break down the cold. That property finds great use in, among other things our Bento boxes, with which the steel acts as a natural cooling element that keeps your food fresh and cool on the go. Lumpy rye bread snacks in the packed lunch are therefore a thing of the past with a YUMMII YUMMII Bento box. Steel is also a brilliant material to store leftovers, cold meats, vegetables etc. ii the fridge, as it cools far more intensely than plastic, thereby avoiding large condensation. You will therefore find that the food you store here stays fresh longer.

Steel's ability to absorb temperatures is also a quality that comes in handy in our thermos bottles and lunch boxes. These consist of two layers of steel with air space between them, which means they can keep food and drinks hot or cold for hours. In this way, we would like to inspire less food waste, as you can easily bring hot or cold leftovers with you in the lunch pack.

Less plastic

Silicone vs. plastic

Plastic is a frequently used material when looking at solutions that have to be completely sealed, so that you can easily bring liquid food and drinks on the go without fear of it flowing into the bag. In plastic, however, there are a lot of hormone-disrupting substances, which are neither good for us humans nor our environment. Alternatives to plastic include silicone, which does not contain these hormone-disrupting substances and at the same time can be completely sealed, which is why we at YUMMII YUMMII see silicone as the best alternative to plastic and its properties.

Silicone has a long life and is an extremely durable material, which is why silicone is a far more environmentally friendly substance than plastic. Silicone is made from silica, which comes naturally from sand. Silicone is extremely temperature resistant and can withstand extreme temperatures without being negatively affected - cold or hot.

Bamboo

Bamboo - an "eternal" resource

Bamboo is an extremely durable type of grass that grows at an incredible speed. Bamboo can grow up to one meter a day and is thus the fastest growing plant on earth. The rapid growth means that the bamboo, with the right production and treatment, absorbs more CO2 than is released during the entire supply chain from production to the finished product. That in itself makes bamboo far more sustainable than wood. Bamboo has an extremely hard-wearing surface, which ensures products with a long lifespan. In addition, bamboo does not need fertilizers or pesticides to grow big and strong. The arguments for using bamboo rather than wood are therefore many when it comes to products with consideration for our surroundings.
