CONTAINERS
-
Make sure you have some good airtight containers to store the food in. Boxes must be able to withstand both the freezer and the microwave.

I myself use glass boxes from YUMMII YUMMII, as the smart thing is that the boxes can be used in the freezer, oven and microwave. I use boxes with and without room division, depending on what I'm preparing. Another reason I use glass is that it's easy for me to see what I have in the fridge.
-
When I have to take food with me on the go, I use steel boxes from YUMMII YUMMII, as I find that my food stays fresh for longer when using these.
See inspiration photos below.

STORAGE AND TIME

Prepare only for a maximum of 5 days. Some food does not last more than 3 days in the refrigerator.

Shellfish and fish should preferably be frozen after 2 days.

VEGETABLES

Cut into pieces (raw): Refrigerate 5-7 days

Boiled/fried: Refrigerate up to 4 days

Freezer: Max 3 months (provides the best taste quality)

START SMALL

Start with breakfast or snacks first. Find the 2-3 recipes you want to use and put together your shopping list.

Feel free to set aside an hour and multitask. When something is in the oven or boiling, you have your hands free for something else.

BUILD A RECIPE INDEX

Feel free to use a notebook or write down electronically which recipes are favourites. It can save you a lot of time when you have to put together your meal plan.

Make larger portions of evening meals, freeze them and build up a stock of different meals. Pick up meals the night before they are to be eaten and let them thaw in the fridge.
